Dear Member,

It’s hard to believe another hunting season is upon us.  Where has the summer gone?  This letter is to remind you that the November meeting, including the election of officers and directors, is 7:00 on Wednesday Nov. 5th.  Anyone interested in being an officer, please contact Scott Hammer at 725-8085 before the meeting.  This is an important time, as you vote for your officers and directors.  We will also be voting on the bylaw changes.  In past years, we have had a spaghetti dinner, but at the October meeting it was brought up and voted on to eliminate the dinner.  The keys and memberships for 2009 will be available at the meeting.  Dues are still $40.00 for the membership year.  Please come and have your voice heard!

The NE Trap Team had a good year with a 6-8 record, with a couple close losses.  The team won the Roland Putnam Trophy, which was named for one of the founders of the Erie-Crawford Trap League.  Individual award winners included Cliff Hammer taking the Veteran Season Trophy with a 48.3571 average.  The Post Season held at North East proved well for the shooters on a very windy day.  Ladies was taken by Taunya Skrok with a 44, C-Class by Bob Gittere with a 48, B-Class by Chris Firment with a 49, and High Gun was taken by Jim Courtwright in a long and hard fought battle with Steve Wall of Bay City.  Congratulations Shooters!

In other news, the outhouse by the rifle & pistol range is rebuilt and usable. Thanks Cliff and Cole Hammer.  The website is still in use and updated www.nesportsmensclub.org.  Information for the club can be found there.  Big thanks to Linda Gilbert for mowing this year, even when our mower was broken Linda brought her own.  Thanks to Ken Hitz and Tom Shearer for running the kitchen during our home shoots.  A special thanks to the club members that helped tear off and replace the roof on the clubhouse.

If you are interested in a Hunter Education class, we may be holding one in Erie in November.  Contact Cliff Hammer at 725-3489.

Finally, congratulations to Aaron Poniatowski for completing the new pistol range for His Eagle Scout project.  If you haven’t used it yet, you should stop and take a look.  Well done Aaron!  Remember that there are No December or January meetings.

                                                 Good Luck Hunting!

                                                              Scott
